Maxine Hamilton, 87, passed away July 17, 2015 in Cañon City, CO. The daughter of Gussie W. and Cynthia L. (Diveley) Grandfield, she was born in Brownstown, Illinois on October 25, 1927.
Maxine retired from Western Forge after a long career as a tool inspector. She enjoyed going to Cripple Creek, was active with the Golden Age Center, and ran the High-Stepper Exercise Group. Her greatest accomplishment was her family, as family was everything to Maxine. She will be forever loved and missed.
Surviving Maxine are her children, Dennis (Roxye) Hamilton, Larry (Lynnette) Hamilton, Roberta (Lester) Swisher, Joan (Steve) Larson, and John (Cindy) Hamilton; grandchildren, Susan, Bob, Kelee, Carie, Missy, and Jeremy all of Canon City, and Katee of Guam; eighteen great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and sister, Annabelle Grandfield. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Banta; grandson, Michael Banta; her parents; and sisters, Blondell Garrett and Shirley Rector.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City, CO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Berta’s Blessings Team through the Orchard of Hope Foundation, 111 Orchard Avenue, Cañon City, CO 81212.
